Kashmir youth, shot dead in Indore, buried

SRINAGAR: Amid a complete shutdown and protests, hundreds of people Thursday attended the funeral of a Kashmiri youth who was shot dead in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh.
Tahir Hussain Dar, who was working with a private mobile company, died after he was shot at the company’s regional office at Chandralok Colony, Indore by a former franchisee identified by police as Govind. The accused had gone to the office to discuss the issue of closure of his franchisee. He shot Tahir from close range .
A spontaneous shutdown was observed as Tahir’s body was brought to Sonawar area here Thursday . Hundreds of people from Sonwar and the adjacent areas participated in the funeral prayers of Tahir. Amidst tears and sobs, he was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard.
Tahir is survived by his wife and a year old son. He had married a girl in Indore around two years ago.
Meanwhile, protests erupted in the area soon after Tahir was laid to rest. Youth pelted stones on public and private vehicles while women took out a peaceful rally demanding punishment for Tahir’s killer.
