SRINAGAR: The chairman Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC) Obaidur Rahman has appreciated the growing synergy among the media units of I&B Ministry and other members of the IMPCC for creating greater awareness among the people of the state on all issues of social importance.
Addressing a periodical review meeting held at Door-Darshan Kendra Srinagar on Thursday, Rahman said that the coordination between all the stakeholders during Defence Minister’s visit to the Valley and also for covering the various awareness programmes and information regarding Amarnth yatra are some of the examples in this connection.
The IMPCC chairman expressed the view that the coordination between RNU Radio Kashmir and DDK Jammu can be replicated between the two RNUs in Srinagar also. He also asked the programme heads of DDK Jammu to explore the possibility of airing DDK Srinagar’s special awareness programme for pilgrims Amarnath yatra.
In this regard, representatives of Radio Kashmir and DDK Srinagar informed the meeting that they have tied up with the concerned authorities and the Shrine Board to keep the people informed about the latest weather conditions throughout the Yatra routes.
Rahman said that media wings linked with publicity of central and state government should focus on the themes like road safety norms, protection of environment and voter registration etc. Agreeing to the views expressed by the chairman, Shabir A Buch, Deputy Director General DDK Srinagar suggested that media units should also highlight drug abuse to check the growing menace of drug addiction among youth in Kashmir Valley.
The representative of Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, DFP and PRO defense expressed their gratitude to Radio Kashmir and DDK for adequate coverage of their programmes organised in different parts of the state.
