Srinagar: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Mushtaq Peerzada, Tuesday issued orders for the regularization of 403 ‘Rehbar-e-Zirats’ (ReZs) of Kashmir division as Village Agricultural Extension Assistants (VAEAs).
The decision has been taken in light of policy adopted by the department as notified vide government order No.235-Agri of 2011, dated 10-08-2011 issued in pursuance Cabinet decision No.:139/18/2011 dated 04-08-2011.
In 2007, the government engaged all agriculture graduates, then unemployed in the state, as ReZs and subsequently a policy was framed in 2011 for their regularization as VAEAs in three phases with effect from April 1, 2014.
The total number of ReZs in the state is 2642. Of them 881 are to be regularized with effect from April 1, 2014, including 440 from Kashmir. The regularization of ReZs has been ordered with the approval of government in Agriculture Production Department.
Regularization of 37 ReZs has been put on hold in view of court orders.
