Woman among 2 killed in road mishaps

Srinagar: A teenager and a woman were killed Monday in separate road mishaps in Kashmir Valley.
18-year-old Azhar Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Waza, of Palhallan, was killed on the spot after a truck (JKO3C/1895) hit him near Baba Teng area of Palhalan on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway, police officials told Kashmir Reader. Police handed over the body to the family for final rites after completion of legal formalities.
Police has registered a case and started further investigations in this regard. The truck driver identified Ashiq Ahmad of Wuyan, Pampore has also been arrested.
In another accident, a 50-year-old woman was killed while her husband sustained injuries in Pampore town of south Kashmir.
Hassena Begum died on the spot while her husband, Ghulam Mohammad Sofi, of Kadlabal, Pampore, sustained injuries after a speeding truck (JK13B-7292) hit their scooter on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Kadlabal.
Police rushed to the spot and arrested the truck driver, Sajad Dar, of Dogripora, Awantipora, and seized his vehicle.
