Kar’s son to contest election from Sopore

BARAMULLA: Veteran Congress leader Ghulam Rasool Kar’s son, Irshad Rasool Kar, Sunday announced that he will participate in the upcoming Assembly elections either as an Independent candidate or on the ticket of any party other than Congress.
He made the announcement a day after Congress’s senior leader Ghulam Nabi Monga said that Haji Abdul Rasheed Dar will be his party’s candidate from Sopore Assembly constituency.
“I will either contest as an Independent candidate or I will join any other party,” Irshad told Kashmir Reader.
Irshad, who is founder of the social organisation ‘Kamraz Foundation’, held a daylong meeting with his workers in Dak Bunglow Sopore, and subsequently announced his participation in the elections.
“I am running a social organisation to help the needy across north Kashmir, especially in Sopore.  Now, to promote our mission, the organisation has decided to participate in the assembly elections,” Irshad told Kashmir Reader.
