18,000 appear in KU’s M Ed entrance test

Srinagar: The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), University of Kashmir conducted entrance test for M.Ed. program (Distance Mode) on June 19 in which 18000 candidates from all over the state including Jammu, Leh and Kargil appeared.
The test was conducted in 358 centres created for the purpose. The centers of examination included University of Kashmir, Jammu University, all Government Degree Colleges of Srinagar city and some prominent Higher Secondary Schools, according to a KU handout.
“This huge academic exercise was coordinated very well by various wings of the university with accuracy, efficiency and higher degree of responsibility,” it said.
The whole test was monitored by the Interim Vice Chancellor, KU Prof. A. M. Shah who took personal interest and paid several visits to the Directorate in order to make the test successful.
While congratulating the officials of DDE, KU for successfully conducting the entrance test and making elaborate arrangements for the convenience of the students Prof AM Shah said, “We are trying our best to reach upto the expectations of the students of our state and our Directorate of Distance Education is one of the flagship centres which is playing a key role in this endeavor by offering a range of quality programs in distance mode.”
Director Distance Education Prof Shabir A Bhat while thanking the university administration for providing all possible support for the successful conduct of the test said “DDE was established with the view to impart education in different disciplines through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode and has been offering many academic courses/programs which have highly benefited those who could not continue higher education in regular mode thereby providing an alternative to a huge number of talented students to full fill their dreams.”
Prof Shabir also expressed gratitude to all the principals of various colleges for extending all the support in the smooth conduct of the test and said that it would not have been possible without their involvement while at the same time thanking other senior officers of KU including Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar and Controller of Examinations who were instrumental for the successful conduct of the test.
Meanwhile the answer key of the question paper was instantly uploaded on the university website in order to acquaint students about the correct answers of the paper.
Officials at DDE KU also said that the result of the successful candidates will be notified shortly.
