SRINAGAR: Financial Commissioner, Industries & Commerce Khurshid Ahmad Ganai on Saturday inaugurated a 7-day State Level Khadi Exhibition at Pahalgam organized by JK Khadi andVillage Industry Board (KVIB).
Speaking on the occasion, the Ganai said that such exhibition provides platform to the beneficiaries to exhibit their products under one roof and sell them to people on genuine rates.
He said that Khadi products have also a great market in Country and abroad, adding that the need of the hour was to provide vast marketing channels to the artisans and viewers to enable them to showcase and sell their products without the exploitation of middlemen.
Ganie said that KVIB has a mandate to provide financial assistance as per the schemes envisaged by the Khadi Village Industries Commission Government of India to the rural artisans and marketing opportunity for the sale of their products.
The KVIB on regular basis organizes exhibition, seminars, awareness-cum- workshops regularly for disseminating the programmes with regard to the activities of KVIB and sensitize the people to avail the the benefits of the schemes. KVIB organized 10 District level, 2 state level exhibitions in the State during 2013-14. The Board financed 1173 units with margin money of Rs. 18.75 crore there by generating employment to 7621 persons during the period. The KVIB financed 6416 units with margin money of Rs. 80.41 crore since 2008-09.
