Interschool debate held at Qamria Educational Institute Ganderbal

SRINAGAR: To infuse the teachings and message  of Dr Sir Mohammad Iqbal’s poetry among the budding students  and to meet out the challenges of rising social evils in the society, a seminar-cum–debate on the topic “Ällama Iqbal aur Nazariya Tasavoff” was Saturday held at Qamria Model Higher Secondary Educational Institute Saloora, Ganderbal.
On the occasion, the students and other speakers highlighted the philosophy of the Iqbal which they said is the beacon for the students and mankind.
Member Legislative Council and Chairman Qamaria Muslim Wakaf Trust, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool Presided over the function, while as renowned Columnist, Dr Javaid Iqbal and Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Sarmad Hafeez attended the function as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Joint Director School Education, Kashmir, Suraya Akhtar, Prof of Iqbal Institute Kashmir University, Dr. Mustaq Ahmad Ganie, and Prof. Ab Majid Andrabi of IUST  besides, Students representing various educational institutions of the district Ganderbal participated in the debate.
Sheikh, in his presidential address, said the message promulgated by Shair-e-Mashriq is a cure for the various conflicts prevailing in the contemporary times. He said that the poetry of Alama Iqbal spreads the message of love, peace, brotherhood, communal harmony, ethics which ultimately led the reformation in the society.
Speaking on the occasion the speakers threw light upon the topic and unanimously urged upon the student community in particular and people in general to play their role for spreading the message of Dr Iqbal based on human values. They stressed the need for promoting the moral values, and ethics for the betterment of mankind and society as well.
Principal of Institute, Dr Mohammad Yousuf in his welcome address gave detailed profile of the Institution and emphasised upon students to imbibe ethical and moral values besides excelling curricular activities so that their future shines and also serve the nation.
At the end of the debate, prizes were distributed among the participants in which Hafiz Junaid from the institute bagged first position, Ajaz Ahmad Malik of Sainak School Mansbal got second positions along with while  Khaliq Mustaq of the institute while Anees-ul-Nisa of New Dreamland School was adjudged as third in the debate.
Principal, Members of Management Committee institute, staff members and students besides a large number of scholars, educationists and respectable citizens of the area were also present on the occasion.
