SRINAGAR: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC)on Thursday continued with its drive to stop deviations in sanctioned building plans and launched a late evening operation in Srinagar’s Gupkar area.
An SMC team, comprising 20 enforcement officials identified a major violation. “The SMC officers launched the operation around 8 pm and demolished a storey of a building that had come up in violation of the sanctioned plan,” an SMC handout said.
The violator, who owns Durga Hotel, opposite Hotel Batra, had sought permission for renovation of the structure and instead was illegally coming up with structure in violation to the sanctioned plan, it said.
The drive was spearheaded by Chief Enforcement Officer Nisar Shah and was implemented by Enforcement Officers Ghulam Rasool and Sofi Akbar.
“The SMC will speed up its drive against violators in the coming days to stop encroachments and deviations of the sanctioned plans,” the handout added.
