Qazi Nisar’s Death Anniversary: Shah calls for shutdown in Anantnag

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir leader Shabir Ahmad Shah has called for shutdown in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday to observe twentieth death anniversary of slain Mirwaiz Qazi Nisar.
“Mirwaiz Qazi Nisar was a wonderful orator, preacher, educationist, and analyst of his time. He made contributions to religious, political, and educational sectors of Kashmir,” Shah said in a statement on Wednesday.
“In this connection, I appeal people of Anantnag to observe complete shutdown on his twentieth death anniversary,” he added.
Terming the arrest of party’s Mushtaq-ul-Islam as “worst example of political vengeance”, Shah said, “it is inhuman to frame political opponents in fake cases and then re-arrest them.”
“Same is being done to Masarat Alam Bhat. We condemn it,” he added. “The freedom movement cannot be suppressed with these arbitrary arrests or by killing the freedom lovers.”
