DODA: With Bhaderwah Development Authority all set to organise annual tourism and cultural festival, sources inside are questioning holding the festival that fetches negligible revenue for the state
Sources told Kashmir Reader that in 2013 not a single tourist visited Bhaderwah. “The zero arrival of tourists was partly due to phobia that earthquake may hit the entire Chenab valley and partly due to communal tensions that erupted in Kishtwar. Sources further said that since its inception six years ago BDA had registered only12000 tourists.
“Having 2000 tourists annually is not encouraging for a place on which crores have been spent,” sources said.
Sources further said that the objective of holding such festivals was to attract more tourists from India and abroad but it has not worked so far.
