Ex-militant shot dead in Bijbehara

Srinagar: Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday shot dead a former militant in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The gunmen fired shots at Munawar Zaman Malik at Arwani in Bijbehara area at around 7.35 pm, police said.
Malik, aged 30, was shot in the head. He was rushed to sub-district hospital Bijbehara wherefrom he was referred to SKIMS, Srinagar. He succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital, the police said.
Meanwhile, suspected militants on Tuesday evening hurled a grenade towards a paramilitary CRPF camp in north Kashmir’s Sopore.
Reports said a boy, Faizan, received minor injuries in the blast.
Soon after the attack, police, CRPF and army arrived at the spot and conducted searches.
