Police-public meet at Handwara

SRINAGAR: The police on Monday organized a police-public meet in the Environment Hall Handwara in which village heads, Sarpanchs, leaders of trade and transport unions, minority representatives and others from all parts of Handwara participated.
According to a police statement, the meeting was presided over by SP Handwara Maqsood ul Zaman alongwith SDPO Handwara, SHO Handwara and I/C Police Posts of Handwara. Executive Officer Municipal Committee Handwara also attended the meeting.
General issues like transport, encroachment on roads, overloading and providing of essential services were discussed. The participants were assured of all possible help to get the grievances redressed and these issues will be put forth before concerned departments.
“On social issues like alcoholism, drug addiction, participants were told that it is the collective responsibility of both police and public to curb these social evils,” the statement added.
