2 cousins from Zakura killed in Awantipora accident

Pampore: Two cousins died and their three relatives were injured Saturday in an accident in south Kashmir’s Awantipora area.
Police said an Esteem car (DL3C AU-0653) collided with a truck (JK01A-3594) on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Chachkoot, Awantipora, resulting in on spot death driver of the Esteem driver Shabir Ahmad Khanshaki, son of Lt. Abdul Khaliq, and injuries to four others.
The injured were shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, where one of them Mohammad Ashraf Khankashi, son of Ali Mohammad succumbed to his injuries, the police said.
The deceased and the injured belong to Gulab Bagh, Zakoora, Srinagar. Police registered a case in this regard.
Meanwhile, at least 34 schoolchildren were injured when a bus ferrying them met with an accident in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, the police said.
The bus which was ferrying children for an excursion turned turtle in Tangnar in Khansahab, a police spokesman said.
The spokesman said 34 children from Markazi Fallahi Khawateen (Nari Niketan) who were on way back from Doodh Pathri to Kupwara were injured.
“All the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital Khansahab where from two of them were shifted to Bone and Joints Hospital and five to SMHS Hospital here in Srinagar,” the spokesman said.
Police have registered a case in this regard, he added.
