Saraf seeks additional food grains to meet shortfall

SRINAGAR: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Sanjay Saraf on Friday called for streamlining of the public distribution system in the Valley asking that for substantial increase in food grains from centre to meet the requirements.
Saraf said that he would personally write to LJP president and Union Food Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan to give privilege to Jammu and Kashmir under the new Food Security Bill so that ration form a common man remains secured.
Saraf told Kashmir Reader that he would personally see that ration card holders must avail at least 50kg of food grains monthly and those who qualify as the genuine BPL families are included.
Saraf who had called a press conference at a local hotel here, aimed at exposing some of scandals of the government and wrong dealings in JK Bank.
He called for a through probe should be carried into allotments of solar devices and loans for setting up dairy units in Kashmir valley provided by JK Bank.
“JK bank has issued 10,000 solar units without proper verification and loans have been provided by bank for setting up 6096 dairy units,” he said, adding that there are apprehensive that there are embezzlements.
These schemes have only favored some particular persons the bank should come clean with facts as by setting up so much dairy nits could have solved our decadency on import of milk from northern India, he said.
He called upon the bank to address to growing unemployment by providing hassle free loans to the youths.
Saraf also said that proper monitoring of ration distribution and check on quality that reaches the consumer should be maintained by checking the food grains procured from FCI.
He also stressed on setting up of Accountability Commission so that give becomes more responsible.
