Zubin concert: Committee to examine claims of works in Shalimar

Srinagar: The J&K government on Tuesday gave sanction to constitution of a committee for examining the claims of the works executed in Shalimar Gardens for the musical concert of Zubin Mehta last year.
The committee includes: Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar (Chairman); Director (Planning) APD/BPE/Floriculture/Horticulture (Member); Technical Officer to Chief Engineer (R&B) Kashmir (Member); and Technical Officer to Chief Engineer (PDD), Kashmir (Member).
In the wake of reports suggesting misappropriation of funds and vandalisation of the Shalimar Gardens where Mehta, the musical maestro, conducted his concert amid controversies in September 2013, the government had said it would order a probe.
“The committee shall be serviced by the Floriculture Department and submit its report within a period of I5 days,” a government order said.
