SRINAGAR: Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) has set up 756 units in Baramulla district with a financial assistance of Rs 2728.90 lakh under Prime Minister Employment Generated Programme (PMEGP).
This was disclosed by Divisional Officer, KVIB Rashid Ahmad Qadri during a day-long seminar at Town Hall Kunzer, Tangmarg here.
Qadri said that KVIB set up 756 units with financial assistant of Rs 2728.90 lakh were set up in the district with 35 per cent subsidy to the tune of Rs 955.73 lakh under PMEGP also provided to educated unemployed youth.
During the seminar the board highlighted the schemes launched by the KVIB for the benefits of the people especially for unemployed educated youth.
The J&K Secretary, KVIB Mir Afroz presided over the function. He said that KVIB is one of the implementing agencies of PMEGP in the state, besides nodal agency of National level.
He urged upon the youth for availing the benefits of the schemes launched for establishing own income generating units, adding that they have to become employment generator not employment seekers.
The unemployed educated youth were urged to come forward and take the benefits of these schemes launched by the government, besides the officers were asked to make all out efforts and work with zeal and zest for the benefits of the people especially unemployed educated youth.
Among others, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, District Lead Bank Officer, District Officer of KVIB, Students of Degree College Tangmarg and prominent citizens of the area participated.
