SRINAGAR: Reserve Bank of India, Srinagar set up a Financial Literacy cum Awareness stall on the occasion of Mela Kheer Bhawani at Tulmulla in Ganderbal District of central Kashmir.
In a statement issued here said a large number of people visited the RBI Stall in which Financial Literacy material prepared by RBI was distributed.
The material covered various aspects of banking services, non-banking services and the grievance redressal mechanism available to the customers besides literature on basic banking concepts of thrift, saving and lending products, it said.
“RBI officials interacted with the people and answered their queries on various issues raised by them,” it said.
A special session, it said, was conducted for school/college going youth who were informed about banking facilities and education loan facilities provided by various banks. It also said a note cum exchange counter was set up by the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd. for the benefit of the pilgrims.
The members of the RBI team specially spoke about fake and fictitious money offers made by some unscrupulous elements and cautioned people against such fraudulent offers. They exhorted the members of public to remain vigilant and not to fall prey to such schemes, it added.
