Srinagar: A scientific programme on ‘Capacity Building for Clinical Research in India’ was organized Wednesday by department of Clinical Pharmacology, SKIMS, in coordination with Programme for Appropriate Technologies in Health (PATH).
Director, SKIMS, Dr Showkat A. Zargar complimented the department for organizing the program . He said pharmaceutical industry in India is witnessing expansion and is embedded with both opportunities as well challenges. He stressed on stakeholders to safeguard interests and ensure safety of people in clinical trials. He said research in medical sciences is critical and medical sciences have been revolutionised through research.
Dr. Y.K Gupta, professor and head, Department of Pharmacology AIIMS, New Delhi, who was also guest of honour, discussed in detail the capacity building for safety reporting. He said clinical trials are monitored through pharmoco-vigilance for efficiency and safety and that pharmaco-vigilance centre will be set up at SKIMS. He thanked and appreciated director SKIMS for his support.
SKIMS’s Dean Medical Faculty Dr. Gul Javid gave a brief introduction about the topic. Dr. Z. A Wafai, HOD Clinical Pharmacology, welcomed the dignitaries and participants and hoped the scientific session will be the enriching experience for the participants.
