KU hosts workshop on international debating

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir University English Debating Club, Department of Students Welfare organized first of its kind workshop on the international debating, a varsity handout said Tuesday.
The event was held in the humanities auditorium last month. The event was conducted to serve as a platform for communicating the tricks, tips, styles, ifs and buts of the actual debating, the handout said.
The event was presided by the Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof. Nilofar Khan who gave an overview regarding the debating activities that the university has done and is looking forward to in future.
The Cultural Officer of the university, Shahid Ali Khan presented a welcome address to the dignitaries and all the participants of the event. Syed Suhaib Hassan, an international debating champion, was the resource person at the workshop and besides many of the student debaters from different departments of the university also spoke on the occasion.
“It was organized to acquaint the participants with the international and national formats of debating and it was vital to be attended for participation in the first Kashmir University Debating Championship (KUDC) which will be based on the International Asians format of debating to be conducted by the University of Kashmir in the near future,” the handout said.
