Police-public meeting held in Sopore

SRINAGAR: Sopore police organized a public meeting at public park Tujjar Sharief on Monday.
The meeting was chaired by SP Sopore Abdul Qayoom, according to a police handout. “Large number of the persons from Tujar, Lathishat and Zainpora participated in the meeting. Among others, the members of the Sultania Coordination Committee, Sultania Traders Federation Tujjar Sharief also attended the meeting,” it said.
“The main objective of the meeting was to make collective efforts to uproot the drug menace, gambling, restoration of counseling centre’s for youth. Besides, the adverse effects of other social crimes/evils were also highlighted among the participants,” the handout said.
The chairman of Sultania Coordination Committee Mohammad Yousuf assured on behalf of respectable citizens of the area that “all sort of cooperation would be extended to the police to maintain peace and tranquility in the area.”
While speaking on the occasion SP Sopore assured that police would “provide all sort of help to maintain peace and order. He assured for organizing of counseling session at police station level for the youth of the area, under civic action programme.”
Police Sopore will accelerate and organize sports, cultural, and educational activities and organize medical camps under civic action programme, he added.
He further added that a cricket tournament will be organized in near future for the active participation of the youth in the area.
“The recent stone pelting incidents were condemned by the participants and police Sopore was assured that these kind of incidents would not be encouraged and made happen further in future,” the handout said.
SDPO Sopore and SHO Police station Bomie were also present on the occasion.
