KU bids farewell to 1st batch of Engineering Graduates

SRINAGAR: The Department of Engineering and IT, University of Kashmir today organized a colourful farewell function for the first Batch of engineering graduates from the University. The function was presided over by the Prof. A M Shah, Vice Chancellor of the University, and attended by Head, Department of Engineering and Information Technology and Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat besides faculty and staff of the Department.
Prof. Shah while speaking on the occasion said that engineering as a field had been neglected since long but over the years, steps have been taken by the University to have a Constituent College and the Department had served as a precursor. “We are in the process of offering three new courses from the coming session and this course will also be housed in a full-fledged building” added Prof. Shah. “We will work out placement opportunities at the University level but great responsibility lies on the shoulders of the first batch. When you work hard and create a good name for yourself, it will pave way for the future batches to get better placements” he added.
Speaking at the function, Prof Bhat said that this was the first batch of graduate engineers from the University of Kashmir and he hoped that they will make the University proud by proving their mettle in the competitive market.“This University is open for the students to always come back. Our facilities including labs are always there for you” he assured.
‘We are in the process of signing an MoU with B R Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training, Jabalpur with regard to counselling and placement of our students as Junior Telecom Officers” added Prof. Bhat while delving on various steps taken by the Department towards placement of students.
While thanking VC for his participation in the event, Prof. Bhat said that as Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shah was the person responsible for striking the right chords towards the introduction of the course in the University. “Prof. Shah’s priority has always been welfare of students. He often declares in meetings that it is because of students that he has held various positions in the University as he always strives hard to deliver his best for the welfare of students”
The staff and faculty bid farewell to the batch with the hope that they would make the University proud by proving their mettle in the competitive market.
