BGSBU faculty, students demand affiliation of Pir Panchal Medical College with university

SRINAGAR: To press for their demand of affiliating Pir Panjal Medical College with Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, faculty members and students of the varsity Thursday held a peaceful march.
The march was led by Dean of Mathematical Sciences & Engineering, Prof Mohammad Asghar, faculty members of Engineering College along with students while requesting the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and affiliate the GMCR with Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mohammad Asghar said that Vice Chancellor of BGSBU Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal is very keen to get the Medical College affiliated with BGSBU and whole university fraternity is supporting the cause.
He appreciated VC for his visionary approach on Medical College.
Prof Asghar said that District Hospital Rajouri already suffers from shortage of space and BGSBU has more than 7500 Kanals of land, and major chunk of which is available for development which can be used to cater to the growing need of land for infrastructure development of the Pirpanjal medical college.
He added that BGSBU is just 8 kilometers from Rajouri town and if connectivity is improved a little bit which has already been approved, the said medical college may get rid of traffic and parking problems for ever.
He added that University of Jammu has to manage 150 colleges and institutes affiliated besides five offsite campuses offering various Postgraduate courses. He suggested that Rajouri College should be affiliated to BGSBU University if state is serious to run it efficiently.
