SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCWB) has collected Rs 96.82 crore as cess from labour employers during that last fiscal, with Rs 45.11 crore disbursed among the beneficiaries with 4500 medical claims have also been settled medical claims have also been settled during last fiscal.
This was stated by the board officials during a meeting chairing by Minister for Planning, Labour and Employment, Ajay Sadhotra on Wednesday.
Sadhotra said that welfare of the labourer class should be priority of the Board asking them to come up with new schemes like housing and pension for the workers.
He said apart from extending insurance schemes to the target group, the need is to initiate for skill development of the construction workers, besides their children as approved under the scheme.
He also stressed for organizing awareness camps to sensitize people about the schemes being implemented by the board.
