Yasin Malik condemns DAK president’s arrest

SRINAGAR: JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik on Thursday condemned the arrest of president Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Dr Nisar-ul-Hasan and “torture and harassment” of the family of Pir Ghulam Nabi of Verinag.
In a statement, Malik while condemning Dr Nisar’s arrest, termed it as “undemocratic and unethical.”
Malik also condemned the continued harassment of family of Pir Ghulam Nabi by SOG, army and police. Pir’s one son died in the 1990s, another son was booked more than 10 times, and the third son was put in jail for two years and even his wife was arrested and tortured by SOG. “Now a 12 year old child of this family namely Bilal Ahmad is facing threats at the hands of Indian forces. This harassment has compelled one of the son’s of this family to abandon his own children and family,” Malik said.
“On his (Malik’s) instructions a delegation of JKLF went to Batagund and met with the oppressed family and expressed solidarity with them,” the statement said. “Delegation while condemning this oppression against Pir family said that this case will be taken up with all human rights organizations and appropriate forums.”
Meanwhile, Malik has paid tributes to JKLF’s slain members Bashir Ahmad Dar alias Salim Malik, Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Maulana Abdul Gani Beerwah, Ghulam Mohammad and Abdul Aziz on their anniversaries.
