SRINAGAR: A 30-member delegation of casual labors of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, on Thursday called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here and appealed him to address their long pending demands including regularization.
“Omar Abdullah assured us that our genuine demands would be solved very soon,” a statement from Casual Employees Welfare Association, SKIMS, said.
The employees said they have been working in the different department from last 15 years on meager salary. “We have spent our youthful day as casual labours on little amount and it has become hard to feed our families, so appeal our CM to regularize us, which is a long pending demand of 183 employees working at SKIMS,” said Abdul Rashid Wagay, president of the Association.
Wagay said the Chief Minister, who is also the chairman governing body SKIMS, gave them patient hearing and assured that on May 27 a meeting would be held regarding regularization of casual employees of SKIMS against the Class IV vacancies under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary to CM.
Wagay also said they met B.B. Vyas, Principal Secretary to CM and Director SKIMS, Soura who assured them of support.
