Baramulla: Prominent religious scholar and former commander of Al-Jihad militant outfit, Professor Waheed, was remembered Thursday on his 21st death anniversary.
Waheed, a resident of Chandilora, Tangmarg, was killed in an encounter on this day in 1993. After Waheed’s death, his associates joined the National Fron led by Nayeem Ahmad Khan.
Reports said that National Front activists and the residents of Chandilora gathered at the grave of Waheed and offered prayers. The people who participated in the prayer meet paid rich tributes to the slain commander and termed his contribution to the resistance movement “unforgettable.” On this occasion, the National Front activists pledged to take the ongoing struggle to its logical end.
