Vodafone launches 3G roaming services in J&K

SRINAGAR: Vodafone India on Monday launched 3G roaming services in the Jammu and Kashmir circle by offering the facility to Vodafone customers in Srinagar, Ganderbal and Udhampur with immediate effect.

The development follows the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) ruling last week that 3G intra-circle (ICR) roaming services would be available once again.
Explaining the move, Asit Shekhar, Business Head, J&K, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, Vodafone India, said, “We, at Vodafone, want to accelerate mobile internet adoption through penetration, consumption and value addition. This announcement by TDSAT is a welcome step,” Shekhar said.
He also said they have now enhanced the data browsing experience of our Vodafone customers in J&K by providing them faster speeds.
“We are confident that this move will facilitate quicker adoption, better usage and a high- speed internet experience on the go.”
In addition to 3G roaming facilities for both its prepaid and postpaid customers, the J&K circle of Vodafone is offering multiple packages to suit customer requirements.
The packages include data for handsets as well as internet devices.
Vodafone’s prepaid customers have six options to choose from. They can avail internet packs varying from 150 MB to 10 GB in the price range of Rs 45 to Rs 1,499. While the 150-MB data plan comes with a validity of seven days, all the other internet packs are valid for 30 days. The postpaid customers of Vodafone can choose from two unlimited data plans with a monthly rental of Rs 650 (3 GB FUP) and Rs 850 (4 GB FUP). They can also opt for the 1.5-GB plan, which comes at a monthly rental of Rs 375.
As part of its strategy to democratize data, Vodafone India has been engaging with customers to use mobile internet and educate current and potential users about how internet can add significant value to them.
Using mobile internet as a medium, Vodafone India has built content partnerships, simplified pricing and conducted retailer education programmes. It has offered a wide choice of packages to customers, depending on their interests and consumption patterns.
