SRINAGAR: “Our freedom struggle is adorned with the blood of martyrs’ and therefore no power can defeat it. Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone and Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq are among those martyrs who will always be remembered and followed.”
This was stated by JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik in a statement here Monday. Recalling the struggle and sacrifices of Lone, Malik said, “He was one of the best politicians, intellectuals and human beings. He always fought for the cause of freedom and tolerated all hardships, sufferings and miseries in this way. He rejected power and position and joined the freedom struggle and never looked back.”
Malik said that Lone’s separation was a “personal loss” for him as he was a selfless well-wisher of JKLF and “we will never forget his sacrifices.”
While remembering Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq, Malik said, “Shaheed Mirwaiz belonged to a family that has always inspired Kashmiris. His family led this nation in the fields of politics, education, and religion. Mirwaiz Shaheed himself tolerated the hardships of jails, torture and oppression in the way of freedom. He never shied away from struggle and sacrifices and stood firm at the times of hardness and finally sacrificed his life in the way of truth.”
Meanwhile, imprisoned leader of JKLF, Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, who is languishing in Srinagar Central Jail and is serving a life sentence, was on Monday presented before a court in Srinagar.
“The health of detained JKLF leader is fast deteriorating and jail authorities have failed to provide him necessary medical facilities. JKLF has expressed concern over the health conduction of its leader and paid rich tributes to his valor and courage. JKLF also pays rich tributes to all those who are bearing the hardships of jails for the sacred cause of freedom,” the statement said.
