Gurez-B’pora road to reopen today

Srinagar: After remaining closed for nearly five months, the Gurez-Bandipora road would be thrown open for vehicular movement on Tuesday, officials said Monday.
The 14,000-feet high Razdan Pass, which connects Gurez Valley with Bandipora district, was thrown open on temporary basis on May 15; however it was closed on the same day after fresh snowfall.
Border Roads Organization’s Commander Colonel Murli Dhar told a local news agency that BRO used sophisticated machines to clear the snow on the road which was closed on December 12 last year due to heavy snowfall. “The first convoy of vehicles from Gurez would be flagged off by GOC 15 Corps Commander Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh and Chief Engineer BRO Brigadier RK Sharma,” Dhar said.
