Justice Rabstan takes oath

SRINAGAR: Justice Tashi Rabstan took oath of office as Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir during a ceremony at the High Court Complex here Friday.
The oath was administered by Justice Mahesh Mittal Kumar, Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
The oath taking ceremony was attended by all sitting judges of the High Court including, Justice Virender Singh, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat, Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, retired judges, Judicial Officers of the District Judiciary, prominent advocates of High Court and Subordinate Courts and officers of the State Government.
Earlier, the Warrant of Appointment and Notification issued by the Rashtrapati Bhawan and Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India and letter of authorization by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, authorizing Chief Justice of J&K High Court for administering the Oath, was read out by Registrar General of the High Court, Suresh Kumar Sharma.
It may be mentioned that Justice Tashi Rabstan was appointed as Additional Judge of the J&K High Court in March, 2013 and now has been appointed as regular Judge by the President of India. Justice Tashi Rabstan hails from Village Skurbuchan in District Leh. He was enrolled as an Advocate in Bar Council of Jammu and Kashmir on March 6th, 1990 and started practicing in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
He worked in different capacities in various other High Courts on Arbitrations, Constitution, Service, Election, Civil and Criminal matters. He possesses rich experience in researching intent of laws, judicial decisions and apply law to clients’ circumstances. He also remained as Standing Counsel for Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh from 1997 to 2005. He also served as Additional Central Government Standing Counsel for Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Jammu Wing and also remained as panel counsel for Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi from April, 2008 to 31st December, 2011.
