Prof Shah assumes charge as KU’s V-C

Srinagar: Prof. Ali Mohammad Shah has formally assumed charge as the interim Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir.
“A Gold Medalist at P.G level, Prof. Shah is a highly experienced and well respected teacher in the university. Besides his academic capabilities, Prof. Shah is well known for his integrity, visionary leadership and managerial abilities,” a varsity spokesperson said in a statement Thursday.
Prof. Shah has served the university at various important positions including that of Dean Academic Affairs, Controller of Examinations, Dean Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Director Business School, Director Distance Education, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Dean Faculty of Music and Fine Arts.
Prof. Shah has been a member of important academic bodies within and outside the university and has visited some leading universities/institutions in USA, UK, Poland, Germany, Turkey, Finland, UAE, Taiwan, Hongkong, China etc.
Recently Prof. Shah visited China with a high powered higher education delegation mounted by FICCI to learn about the practices which enabled China to develop rapidly world class universities, the statement said.
Besides one book, Prof. Shah has contributed over 80 papers in leading national and international journals/conferences and also carried many research projects.
“Despite being very busy with administrative responsibilities, Prof. Shah has never skipped his class in the Department of MBA which is highly appreciated by one and all in the university,” the statement said.
The appointment of Prof. Shah, as Vice Chancellor has been “highly appreciated by the entire university community including faculty, officers and non-teaching employees,” the statement added.
