JKFA condoles former player’s demise

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Football Association Wednesday held a condolence meeting to mourn the demise of former soccer player Abdul Qayoom Rather.
According to the press release from the JKFA, the meeting was chaired by the president Zameer Ahmad Thakur at the association’s Polo Ground office.
The meeting also condoled the death of Hajra Begum, elder sister of S A Hameed, association’s general secretary.
Rather, according to the statement, was a veteran player who played the game with efficiency having represented the then iconic KMD Mohamaden Sports Club for better part of two decades. Rather participated in various high profile tournaments both in state and outside.
His passing away, it added, has created a void which can’t be filled.
The meeting also said that Hajra was a pious and a noble lady.
“She had very good qualities and helped the poor & needy persons,” it added.
JKFA members visited the deceased homes to condole the bereaved families and offered Fateh-Khawani.
