KU hails work done by outgoing V-C Prof Talat

Srinagar: The outgoing Vice-Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad on Tuesday held an informal meeting with both the teaching and non-teaching faculty members of the University during which the members highlighted the good work done by Prof Talat as V-C in the last three years.
During the meeting the representatives from both the teaching and non-teaching faculty highlighted the contribution of Prof Talat towards the academic growth and expansion of the University including the opening of new satellite campuses and major initiatives undertaken by him for promoting research in the campus.
The speakers while congratulating Prof Talat’s appointment as V-C Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi unanimously expressed gratitude to him for taking KU to new heights of academic excellence and maintained that his role as V-C of the university would always be remembered.
The members said that during the tenure of Prof Talat, research received a boost and several projects were initiated under the sponsorship of DBT, DST, FIST, SAP and other scientific and non-scientific agencies.
Besides Dean Academic Affairs KU Prof AM Shah, Dean Research Prof Khursheed Andrabi, DCDC Prof GM Shah, Registrar KU Prof Zaffar A. Reishi, Controller Exams Prof AS Bhat and University Librarian Dr AM Baba the meeting was attended by Deans of various faculties, Directors of various campuses/institutes/ research centres of KU, Heads of several PG departments, senior administrative officers, officers of the Registry and Presidents of KUTA, KUOA and KUMSA.
While interacting with the members of the University, Prof Talat said that he would always remember the support and affection he received from both the non-teaching and teaching staff of the University and maintained that the progress made in the last three years would never have been possible without their active support.
Prof Talat said he would continue to support the academic and research pursuits of Kashmiri students and scholars particularly of those from KU and would do whatever possible for them in his own capacity.

Jeelani.
