SRINAGAR: Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Navin Aggarwal Tuesday distributed sports kits at a function held at north Kashmir’s Baramulla district,a statement issued by the department said.
The sports kits were distributed among Middle, High and Higher Secondary Schools of Baramulla, Bandipore and Kupwara districts.
Speaking on the occasion Agarwal said that the efforts for creation of posts for more physical education teachers were on anvil.
He stressed upon the officers of Education and YSS departments to work in unison and maintain close coordination for the promotion of sports activities among students.
“Efforts are afoot to improve the sports infrastructure in all educational institutions of the State, adding government has already declared physical education compulsory from 6th to 10th standard and the formulation of a befitting syllabus in this regard is already underway,” he said.
Principals and Heads of various institutions of these districts interacted with Aggarwal and apprised him about the need of developing Sports Fields in various Educational Institutions of the three districts.
He further added that YS&S is trying to bring all the block level areas of Jammu Kashmir on sports map,” he said. “More Sports stadiums will be developed and for the young sports personalities.”
He further said that the YSS will be working on to prepare State Level teams in various games in accordance with its sports calendar. “Teams will be prepared in accordance with departmental sports calendar to gain better results,”
The function was also attended by Joint Director (DYSS) Kashmir, Madan Lal and Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Accounts Officer YS&S, Heads of various Educational Institutions of North Kashmir and other officials of YS&S, were also present at the function.
