Kashmir United overpower Young Boys in penalty shootout

SRINAGAR: Kashmir United on Sunday beat Young Boys Wagura by 3-1 goals in the inaugural match of Kongposh Football Tournament played at Iqbal Stadium.
It was a close game with both teams scoring a goal each in the allotted time. With teams locked at 1-1 when the final whistle blew, the game had to be decided by a penalty shootout in which Kashmir United found net thrice and Young Boys couldn’t do on more than one occasion, handing over a victory to the former.
Amir was the star performer for the winners, thanks to his terrific goalkeeping.
Earlier, an academy match was played between Itehad Academy Pampore and Shinning Star Academy in which latter emerged victorious by a margin of 2-1.
The tournament is being organised by Football Promoting Association, Pampore in order to promote the sport in the area and tap the young talent from the south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
