Critical patients evacuated from Gurez: Army

SRINAGAR: Army and Air Force airlifted critically ill patients from Gurez to Bandipora, an army spokesman said Friday.
“On May 8, a 12-year-old boy Aftab Ahmed, of village Bagtor, Gurez and suffering from appendicitis, was evacuated to Bandipora by Air Force MI-17 for further medical treatment,” the spokesman said in a statement.
“Earlier, on May 7, Dr Sameer Ahmed, of village Acchura, Gurez, who had developed severe chest pain was taken to nearest army medical post and administered first aid. However, he did not show any sign of improvement. Army thereafter, arranged for helicopter to evacuate the patient to Bandipora for further medical treatment,” the statement added.
