2 revenue officials held for taking bribe

Srinagar: Two revenue officials, including a tehsildar, were today arrested for accepting bribe from a truck driver in connection with the release of seized documents of his vehicle in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, a vigilance official said.
A junior assistant at Pulwama tehsil office was caught red-handed by a special surveillance squad of State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) for accpeting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the truck driver, an SVO spokesman said.
He said the assistant demanded and accepted the bribe from the complainant for onward handing over the money to tehsildar, territorial pulwama, in connection with release of seized documents of the complainant’s vehicle.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act and Ranbir Panel Code was registered against the culprits who were arrested and lodged in Police Station Vigilance Organisation Kashmir, the spokesman said, adding further investigation into the case was in progress.
