16.96% voting till 11am: Govt

Srinagar: After starting on a dull note, voting picked up in north Kashmir and Ladakh with nearly 17 percent of the voters exercising their franchise in two Lok Sabha constituencies of Baramulla and Ladakh in first four hours.

As many as 15 candidates are in fray from Baramulla—spread over three districts—while four candidates are contesting from Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency—spanned in twin districts of Leh and Kargil.

An official handout about voting percentage in twin constituencies till 11 am said that Baramulla recorded 9.9%, Kupwara 20%, Bandipora 14.8, Leh 14.1% and Kargil had 26 percent voter turnout.
