Shah appeals north Kashmir to boycott polls

Srinagar: Senior leader of Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir Shabir Ahmad Shah in his appeal to the people of north Kashmir has urged them to “reject the murderers of Kashmiris and power hungry NC, Congress, PDP and other pro-India parties by completely boycotting the elections scheduled on May 7 and revere the sacrifices rendered by martyrs.”
In a statement here Monday, Shah expressed hope that people of north Kashmir will follow south and central Kashmir. He said the whole world has acknowledged that Kashmir is an issue which has to be resolved by India, Pakistan and pro-freedom leadership of Jammu and Kashmir.
“But it is India’s stubbornness which is the biggest impediment in its resolution. The Indian government is giving democratic color to its illegal occupation by staging the drama of sham elections. They continue to befool people in the name of development just to garner votes from them and later on exploit the same votes in misleading the international community,” Shah said.
Shah said the new generation of Kashmir “very well understands the political and armed machinations of India. They are above the notions of fear and are filled with the spirit of freedom and will never accept the slavery of India.”
