2 arrested in killing of Sarpanch’s father

Srinagar: Police on Monday said it has arrested two ‘over ground workers’ allegedly involved in the recent killing of Ghulam Mohammad, father of a Sarpanch in Awanitpora area of south Kashmir.
Police identified the arrestees as Ishfaq Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Hameed, and Lateef Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan, residents of Dugripora.
“The duo alongwith a local HM militant Riyaz Naikoo killed the aged Haji Ghulam Mohammad Dar when he was coming out of masjid after offering Isha prayers,” the police claimed.
“A Chinese pistol used in the murder along with magazine and 7 live rounds was recovered from their possession,” it said, adding that a manhunt has been launched to nab Riyaz Naikoo.
