Minor girl injured in stone-pelting: Police

SRINAGAR: A minor girl was injured on Sunday when some “miscreants pelted stones on a police deployment in Nawakadal area of downtown Srinagar, police said Sunday.
“The stone hurled by the miscreants hit 9- year old girl Tanzeela daughter of Ghulam Jeelani Kosgar
resident of Rehbab Sahib, M.R Gunj on her head,” a police spokesman said.
Police said the injured girl was shifted to SMHS hospital by a police party headed by chowki officer Noorbagh. “The innocent girl, a third standard student, received four stitches on her head. She had gone out to fetch bread for her home at about 5:15 pm when the incident took place,” the spokesman added.
A Case FIR number 73/14 under section 336, 147, 323 RPC is registered at police station Safa Kadal, he said.
Curfew was lifted from Nawa Kadal, where a youth was killed in CRPF firing on April 30, and other areas of downtown Srinagar after three days Monday.
The spokesman claimed that seven persons including two blind school children received severe injuries after being “hit by stones hurled by miscreants at different places in the valley during the last week.”
“The injured include two students of blind school who were injured in Ganderbal yesterday when stones were hurled at their picnic bus. An ambulance driver Javed Ahmad Mir received an injury in his head during stone pelting at Sheikh Mohalla Bandipora on May 2, the spokesman said.
“In Kangan two persons Chaderkant Doshi and a local were injured when they were hit by stones pelted by miscreants on May 3,” the spokesman said.
