Srinagar: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir has placed two officials under suspension after they were found absent from duty .
“Director School Education Kashmir Mir Tariq Ali paid a surprise visit to various schools of Srinagar and Budgam districts and besides inspecting various schools, also visited Zonal Education Office in Nowpora where the officer in charge was found absent,” an official spokesman said.
“Director School Education ordered the immediate suspension of ZEO BK Pora and also the Head Assistant of the office for his negligence in providing the requisite information,” he said.
The official said that director took a strong notice of the absenteeism and mismanagement of the school records including the attendance registers. “Action as warranted under rules has been initiated against all the unauthorized absentees. The attendance registers of these schools were seized,” he said.
He said that director strongly reprimanded the heads of the schools for their laxity in discharging their official duties. “He has also instructed field officers particularly Chief Education Officers to frequently visit the schools to check the attendance of the teachers,” he said.
“The surprise visits of the schools shall continue to infuse the spirit of accountability among the teaching community. Director School Education further said that no slackness would be tolerated to compromise the smooth functioning of schools,” the official added.
