‘Restaurant sealed over stale food’

Srinagar: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has sealed a restaurant in Lal Chowk area and seized stale food items.
Health Office SMC Shaqat Ahmad Khan said that a team raided the ‘Tao Cafe’ after three people filed a complaint alleging that they had fallen ill after consuming substandard food there.
“We recovered 5 kilograms of stale fish, 10 kilograms of stale meat, chicken, 5 liters of substandard cooking oil , stale noodles, and low -grade plastic and aluminum utensils,” Khan was quoted as saying by a local news agency.
“We also recovered harmful colouring agents which were used in large numbers by the said restaurant,” he said.
“The restaurant has been sealed and a chalan produced in the court of Municipal Magistrate,” he said.
