Srinagar: Mohammad Shafi Bhat, whose 24-year-old son Bashir Ahmad was shot dead by CRPF troopers at Nawa Kadal on Wednesday, has said he would not accept “blood money” against his son’s killing.
He also challenged the police to prove that his slain son was involved in stone pelting.
Bhat said his son’s killing has shattered the entire family but he will muster courage to pursue the case till the culprits are brought to justice.
“My son, who was preparing for the marriage of his two sisters, was killed in a cold-blood,” Bhat told a local news agency here.
He said his son’s credentials can be verified from the local residents. “You can ask about his background from anyone here, and if it is proved that he was involved in stone pelting or in any kind of ‘subversive activities’, then I will never ask for anything,” Bhat said.
