Kargil traders appeal govt

SRINAGAR: The traders and residents of Kargil on Friday complained against the closure of the highway and not allowing goods to be carried forward on ponies.
They said the government didn’t allow the traffic on Srinagar-Ladakh highway on May 1, when the route was scheduled to be thrown open, leaving dozens of them stranded at Sonamarg and its adjoining areas.
“We are traders and ponywallas who were to travel towards Kargil and Ladakh. But the government stopped the traffic on the highway, leaving us stranded here,” they told Kashmir Reader.
Adding that they are carrying eatables and other perishable supplies, which are getting rotten due to the delay.
