Downtown to remain caged for third day today

SRINAGAR: Curfew will continue to remain in place for third consecutive day on Saturday in areas falling under five police stations of downtown Srinagar, officials said.
“Curfew will remain continue in areas falling under five police stations of Nowhatta, Khanyar, M R Gunj, Safa Kadal and Rainawari,” District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah, told Kashmir Reader on Friday.
The curfew was imposed in the old city on Wednesday evening following the killing of 24-year-old Bashir Ahmad Bhat in firing by paramilitary CRPF troopers at Nawa Kadal.
Shah said that decision on easing restrictions on Sunday will be taken after assessing situation on Saturday evening.
