Bullets, arrests can’t bring peace, says JI ameer

SRINAGAR: Describing the killing of a youth by paramilitary CRPF in Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar and widespread arrest of youth as “worst example of state-terrorism,” ameer Jama’at-e-Islami Mohammad Abdullah Wani on Friday said that “such repressive measures cannot bring peace but only aggravate the hurt sentiments and emotions of people.”
Wani, who was addressing a Friday congregation here at Masjid Al-Huda, Batamaloo, said the Jama’at vehemently condemns the killing of the youth in Nawa Kadal and arrest spree unleashed by forces across the state before the “so-called elections.”
“Such draconian actions are not acceptable in any law,” a statement quoted Wani as saying.
He said that bullets and arrests cannot bring peace. Only resolution of Kashmir dispute can ensure peace in the state and in the region, he said.
He stressed on the early resolution of Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of people of Kashmir and said that only that can prevent further bloodshed in the state.
