Jama’at demands impartial probe

Srinagar: “Under the garb of democracy, worst type of imperialism has been imposed upon the hapless Kashmiri people. The people are not even allowed to express their anguish and displeasure against the autocracy they have been subjected to,” the Jama’at-e-Islami said Thursday while condemning the killing of Bashir Ahmad Bhat at Nawa Kadal on Wednesday.
“By various dictatorial tactics, Kashmiris have been virtually deprived of all the basic fundamental rights and as such are facing the worst type of uncertainty. They are also facing the harshest treatment at the hands of the law-enforcing agencies particularly the security agencies because of the implementation of some inhuman and undemocratic laws like Public Safety Act, Armed Forces Special Powers Act, Disturbed Area Act, etc. These laws are being misused and abused by the police and other security agencies,” Jama’at spokesman Advocate Zahid Ali said in a statement.
