New Delhi: Naib Subedar Bhupal Singh Magar will receive the second-highest peacetime gallantry award Kirti Chakra from President Pranab Mukherjee here Friday for “killing two militants in an encounter” in Jammu and Kashmir.
Magar of the 5/5 Gorkha Rifles will be the only recipient of the Kirti Chakra at the investiture ceremony while eight other Army personnel would be awarded the Shaurya Chakra by the President.
A resident of Rupendehi District of Nepal, Magar is receiving the award for killing two militants from a heavily-armed group on the Line of Control (LoC) on August 31 last year in Kupwara district, an army statement said.
